Hakan Hürkan ŞAHİN
Cello
Born in Izmir in 1992, he was accepted into Izmir Işılay Saygın Anatolian Fine Arts High School in 2006.
During his high school years, he earned a "Gifted Talent" scholarship at YÜSEM, the preparatory course of Yaşar University, and began his education there. During this period, he had the opportunity to work with Dr. Serdar MAMAÇ and Prof. Dr. Alexander RUDIN.
In 2011, he won the entrance exam for Yaşar University with first place and pursued education in Cello and Composition. His compositions were performed both domestically and internationally. He participated in a Choral Conducting Masterclass by Volker Hempfling and Sabine Horstmann. For one year, he conducted Yaşar University Chamber Choir. Additionally, he actively participated in the 1st Orchestral Conducting Masterclass held by Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra, where he had the chance to work with Prof. Rengim GÖKMEN.
While continuing his cello education at Yaşar University with Serdar MAMAÇ, in 2014 he passed the exam held by the Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra. He performed concerts with the ALNAR Quartet, one of the institution’s quartets, and served as a cellist in the orchestra for five seasons.
In 2020, he passed the audition for a position with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and continues his career as a composer, solo cellist, and orchestral musician, while also working towards a career in conducting.
